It is made by Angostura Limited, a subsidiary of Angostura Holdings Limited. In its 2021 Annual Brands Report, Drinks International ranked Angostura aromatic bitters the #1 bestselling bitters.
Angostura says the recipe for its aromatic bitters has not been changed since the first bottle was introduced in 1824. The name covers other bottlings too: Angostura 1824 took a Double Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2015.
