Don Julio was started in 1942 by Don Julio González in the Jaliscan Highlands of Jalisco, Mexico. It is a tequila brand and it is owned today by Diageo. The range includes the Reposado, the Anejo, the 1942 expression and the 70 expression.
Don Julio is made from 100% Blue Weber Agave cultivated in Jalisco, cooked slowly in masonry ovens, fermented with a proprietary yeast strain and double distilled in copper pot stills. The expressions differ in ageing and finishing: the Reposado rests 8+ months in ex-bourbon American white oak casks, the Anejo is aged 18+ months, the 1942 expression 24+ months, and the 70 is a 15+ month aged Anejo that is charcoal filtered.
