Almenkerk Merlot

The Almenkerk Merlot 2022 is complex with upfront aromas of young blackberry and mulberry, supported by hints of fennel seed and umami notes of black olive, tea leaves and squid ink. The sanguine, earthy undertones underscore the true sense of place this wine portrays. The gentle wooding is reminiscent of tobacco leaf and pencil shavings. Generous, concentrated yet linear, this wine has an unmistakable elegance & poise which follows through on the palate. The lingering graphite tannin structure and distinct minerality makes this a prime example of what cool climate Merlots can be like. Our Merlot pairs excellently with lighter dishes such as quail, pheasant & pork. Will drink youthfully for the next 2-3 years and can be cellared comfortably up to 10 years. Pour at 16-18°C. This wine will benefit from decanting.
