Fat Bastard is a wine brand founded in 1998 by Thierry, a winemaker, and Guy Anderson. It comes from the Languedoc-Roussillon region of France, and the brand is owned by Gabriel Meffre. That combination of a French growing region and a two-person founding partnership sits behind the label.
What distinguishes Fat Bastard is how the wine was handled in barrel: it was left on the lees, the yeast cells, which gave it a fuller colour and a round, rich palate. That lees contact is the brand's own explanation for the style, made in the Languedoc-Roussillon region of France.
