Simonsig

Simonsig is a wine estate at Stellenbosch in the Western Cape, South Africa. The first wine under the Simonsig label was released in 1968, though Frans Malan had bought the farm from his in-laws in 1942, well before the label itself was established. The estate is still in Malan hands, with Johan, Francois and Pieter Malan in the second generation and Michael and Christelle Malan in the third.

Simonsig produced Kaapse Vonkel in 1971, South Africa's first bottle-fermented sparkling wine, made by the method now called Cap Classique. The estate today makes both Cap Classique and still wines.
