De Grendel is a wine farm at Panorama in Cape Town, South Africa. Sir David Pieter de Villiers Graaff, 1st Baronet, bought the property in 1891 to stable his prized Arab horses, and Sir De Villiers Graaff, 4th Baronet, is its managing director today. The vineyards themselves are relatively young, having been planted from 2000 onwards.
The vineyards sit on the fynbos-covered slopes of Tygerberg Hill at about 350m of elevation, where sea breezes cool the site. They have been planted from 2000 onwards. That cool-climate suitability is why Sauvignon Blanc is a core focus of the vineyard rather than an afterthought in the range.
