The story of KWV

KWV was founded in 1918 by South African wine farmers as a co-operative, and it is based in Paarl in the Western Cape. It is a wine and spirits producer, and it is owned today by Vasari. It became one of the first brandy producers in the Cape, bottling its first commercial brandy in 1926.

What makes KWV different

KWV draws on a wide spread of the Western Cape rather than a single estate, sourcing grapes from more than 50 farms and 400 vineyard sites across Paarl, Stellenbosch, Swartland, Perdeberg, Malmesbury, Darling, Elgin, Robertson and Wellington. Its 15-year-old Potstill Brandy took the IWSC Worldwide Trophy for Brandy in 2015, KWV was named Top Producer at the Veritas Wine Awards in 2020, and The Mentors Orchestra 2018 took the Vertex Award there as the highest-scoring wine overall.
