The story of Bellingham

Bellingham is a Franschhoek Valley wine producer in South Africa, owned today by DGB (Pty) Ltd. Bernard and Fredagh Podlashuk took over the weathered estate in 1943 and set about reviving the dilapidated manor house, gardens and vineyards. The wines run across four ranges: the Founders Series, the Bernard Series, the Homestead Series and Pandemonium.

Bellingham points to a run of early releases: the producer says it introduced the Cape's first Rosé in 1949, followed by the Premier Grand Cru in 1951 and a single varietal Shiraz in 1956. In the cellar, Bellingham's 2026 harvest report summary says the team explored winemaking techniques including ceramic fermentation and wild ferments.
