The story of Old Road Wine Company

Old Road Wine Co. is a South African wine producer in the Franschhoek Valley, Western Cape, owned by DGB (Pty) Ltd. The wines are made in a cellar on the old main road of the town of Franschhoek. Head Winemaker Ryan Puttick works to a stated philosophy of respecting the fruit the vineyard has given, with minimal intervention.

What makes Old Road Wine Company different

The Single Vineyard Series is drawn from Certified Heritage Vineyards on single vineyard sites, while the Elite Range is sourced from the Swartland. The Grand-Mère Semillon comes from La Colline, a Certified Heritage old bush vine block planted in 1936 at around 7,000 vines per hectare, unirrigated and south-east facing at 350m above sea level. The Stone Trail vineyard was planted in 1982 on the slopes of the Franschhoek valley, and the 12 Mile Syrah vineyard lies in the Swartland at 370m above sea level.
